FAQ
Answers to the questions aircraft owners ask us most often.
What is a combined airworthiness organisation (CAO)?
A CAO is an organisation approved under EASA Part-CAO that may offer maintenance, airworthiness reviews and continuing airworthiness management from a single source. Our approval DE.CAO.0040 was issued by the German Federal Aviation Office (LBA).
What does continuing airworthiness management include?
We track all deadlines of your aircraft – annual maintenance, scheduled inspections, ADs and component lifetimes – and let you know in good time when something is due. We also prepare and maintain the aircraft maintenance programme.
How often does the airworthiness have to be reviewed?
The ARC is valid for one year. If your aircraft is continuously managed by us, we can extend the ARC twice for one year each – a full airworthiness review is then only required every three years.
Which documents do you need for the airworthiness review?
Please bring all documents of your aircraft, in particular:
- journey log and logbooks for airframe, engine and propeller
- flight manual and weight and balance report
- previous ARC and records of maintenance and ADs carried out
Do you also manage aircraft from other EU countries?
Yes. Our EASA Part-CAO approval is valid throughout the EU – we manage around 850 aircraft all over Europe.
How do I transfer my aircraft to you?
Just contact us. We sign a continuing airworthiness management contract with you, review your aircraft's records and take care of everything else.
Do you help with dealing with the authorities?
Yes – for example with aircraft registration, transfer after a change of owner or address, and radio station licences.
Can I fly my aircraft straight to you?
Yes, our workshop is located directly at Grefrath-Niershorst airfield (EDLF). All approach information is on our Getting here page.
